    Mohammad announces plans for Museum of the Future

    Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched plans on Wednesday for a new Museum of the Future that will actively produce futuristic inventions and support the UAE’s mission to be a global innovation engine.

    As well as providing a permanent home for the world’s greatest innovations, the museum will work to stimulate and incubate imaginative solutions to the challenges of future cities.

    STC and Cisco to build three data centres in Saudi

    STC and Cisco have announced plans to build three data centres in the Kingdom, to meet growing market requirements.

    The data centres, which will be built in Riyadh and Daman, will use Cisco's Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), which will enable rapid deployment for customers across the board as well as ensure higher availability in a secure environment.

    DEWA plans to launch use of drones

    Dubai's state utility has launched an initiative to introduce the use of drones to drive efficiency across its infrastructure projects.

    Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched the Sirb (Arabic for fleet) initiative at a DEWA 2021 strategy workshop.

    Al Tayer said the drones will provide early detection of problems by using thermal imaging for overhead power lines, limiting risks and reducing costs, as well as enabling a quick response.

    STC rolls out Ericsson's Radio Dot solution

    Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has become the first operator in the Middle Eat to deploy Ericsson's Radio Dot System to improve service quality for indoor locations.

    The Ericsson Indoor Radio Dot System is intended to deliver high-quality access to mobile broadband and voice services indoors. The solution fully integrates with the outdoor WCDMA and LTE networks, and will deliver seamless coverage to consumer and business customers. The solution will specifically support under-served medium-to-large buildings and venues.


    Prestigio to debut devices with True Key Intel Security

    Mobile devices manufacturer Prestigio has announced that it will soon launch products that will have the recently announced True Key by Intel Security across EMEA with an initial roll-out in Russia.

    True Key is a cross-device application developed by Intel Security that removes the hassle of remembering passwords. True Key will be available across all of Prestigio's Android tablets and smartphones by the end of this year, the company said in a statement.

    UPDATE 1-Apple delays larger iPad production till September - reports

    March 5 ( Reuters ) - Apple Inc will delay the start of production on a larger, 12.9-inch iPad until around September because of delays involving the supply of display panels, according to two media reports.

    Production on the bigger tablet had been scheduled to begin this quarter, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the company's plans. ()

    Google launches new version of Consumer Barometer

    Dubai: Learning about consumers’ online behaviour just got easier. Google has launched a new version of its Consumer Barometer, a free tool that allows companies to know things like how people research and buy online, as well as how many connected devices they have.

    The new version of the Barometer, which is based on surveys conducted by TNS in 46 countries in 2014, offers more insights on consumers from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The data is filtered by country, age, gender and income level.

    NBAD and BT sign IT contract

    Dubai: The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has signed a contract with BT, who will provide a managed end-to-end networked IT services solution to the bank’s new financial hub in London, the British Telecommunications company announced on Tuesday.

    The announcement adds to a 2012 contact between the two companies for managed network services linking the bank’s centralised IT services from its data centre in the UAE to twelve branches of its international network.
