Batelco holds 'ladies bazaar' in Hamala

Bahrainian operator Batelco is holding a bazaar aimed at women to showcase a wide range of goods.

 

The two-day event has been organised by the Batelco Youth Marketing Team. It will remain open on 17 March. There are over 50 exhibition stands displaying clothing, jewellery, handicrafts, home-baked goods and make-up, among other merchandise.     Gemalto may need to recall SIMs: Snowden

    NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has characterised the alleged NSA-GCHQ campaign to compromise Gemalto SIM cards as "more significant" than a related state-sponsored campaign to embed spyware in the firmware of hard-disk drives, and suggested that an entire recall of Gemalto SIMs may be necessary to purge spy agencies' monitoring tools from mobile handsets.

    Saudi regulator suspends Mobily shares after 2014 results revision

    DUBAI, Feb 25 ( Reuters ) - Saudi Arabia's Capital Market Authority suspended trading in the shares of telecommunications operator Mobily on Wednesday after the firm revised its 2014 financials, posting a loss instead of the earlier announced profit.

    Egypt's Global Telecom says 2014 losses narrowed by 84 percent-statement

    CAIRO, Feb 25 ( Reuters ) - Global Telecom , the Egypt-based group formerly called Orascom Telecom, reported a 2014 loss of 3.2 billion Egyptian pounds ($419.40 million), the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

    Global Telecom, which is 51.9 percent owned by Russia's Vimpelcom , posted a loss of 20 billion Egyptian pounds in the previous year.

    Experienced employees needed in cyber security in Mena: Raytheon study

    Senior leadership at Mena (Middle East and North Africa) organisations places a greater importance on cyber security than their European and US counterparts, experts in the capital said on Monday at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX).

    In fact, around 56 per cent of upper level management believes cyber security is of importance to their institution in comparison to only 34 per cent globally, according to the 2015 Global Megatrends in Cybersecurity study conducted by American defence contractor, Raytheon.
