STC best provider of mobile services in the Kingdom

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has won the title, “Best Mobile Service Provider”, in the fourth annual poll, conducted by Mobile Trend, a telecommunications and information technology magazine. A large segment of citizens and residents from all parts of the Kingdom participated in the poll.

 
Describing the achievement, Eng. Nawaaf Al-Shalani, GM, Corporate Communication, said STC received 71.05 % of votes, confirming its prestigious position in the Saudi market and the trust it has gained as the first provider of 4G services in the region. Eng. Al Shalani added that STC’s 4G services will reach more than 65% of its coverage in the Kingdom by the end of 2012, and 90% by the end of 2014.  Eng. Al Shalani mentioned that STC Group had received Best Mobile Operator of the Year Award at the 6th TMT Finance & Investment Middle East Awards Ceremony 2012 which held in Dubai recently, as the prestigious award is recognizing STC leadership in providing the best telecommunications services in the region and its international growth strategy.

STC is considered as the biggest mobile operator in the Kingdom, working to provide excellent services, and some of the best applications for iPhone, locally and in the Middle East, through its STC App Shop.     UAE-based telecom operator du, has launched a daily data bundle for prepaid customers.

    As an introductory offer, for every third purchase made within 30 days, customers will get 5 minutes of free international calls.

    “We are pleased that the Daily Data Bundle is an accessible data package, which can be used as an introduction to data services or as a quick top-up as and when needed, allowing greater flexibility and even more control over data spend. ” said Farid Faraidooni, chief commercial officer.

    Huawei’s Mideast revenue up 18pc in 2012

    China’s Huawei Technologies Co’s Middle East revenue rose 18 percent to $2.08 billion in 2012 and the roll-out of 4G mobile networks and IT outsourcing will be among its main regional growth drivers, the firm said.

    The world’s second-largest telecom equipment maker also expects Middle East telecom operators to prioritise improving network efficiency, Shi Yaohong, president of Huawei Middle East, told Reuters in an email.
